Great Missenden Show

by bobp - 14.07.2010 - 17:34 - Links: n/a

First time going to a HD Fairs event going down to Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire not far from Thame and Aylesbury.
Hopefully running Bales ,dummy launcher and Sliick Six so plenty to go at for novice and open alike.
Got helpers coming along any one else who feels they could help out for a short stint give a call or email me.

Just got back from one very hot weekend in Peterborough with the show ,Flyball and agility nutcases what a mad bunch
Beth and Harri with Raif ,Oswold and an hayfever struck voice Shroom and his crowd along with Samson and David not sure who runs who.
My thanks to all helpers who suffered the heat and to my little helper who kept my time keeping in order.

see you soon

CLA Bits and Bobs

by bobp - 14.07.2010 - 17:13 - Links: n/a

If any of you follow Facebook then you will have seen that I have been chatting to the Gamebear about Caravan and water issues. It seems that they have run out of caravan spaces and they seem very unwilling to help any one sort out accommadation elsewhere.
If you have followed me and Scott then you know that we asked if the dogs we take would have access to the lake if the weather was hot so we could cool our dogs off short answer NO.You will be able to give your dogs a drink and if you wish you can put them in a creche no price available at this moment but my bet its expensive and why would you drop your dog off anyway.
I have been watching the prize draw with some dismay as I would have thourght that the CLA could have given away a pair of tickets everyday not just 1 pair per week.
Just hope I dont win the tickets to Argentina as it may cost me about £1500 to get there and back.

Anyway I will be at the fair on Saturday and Sunday so look out for me and I for you thats if they let me in people on gate issued with my photo and instructed to refuse me entry.
To much time on my hands and I do love asking questions of the big boys

Is there any body there

Belated news and stuff

by bobp - 16.06.2010 - 17:07 - Links: n/a

If you have seen facebook then you will have seen my maon about lack of time
No excuse for not filling the pages with my rubbish but here is my belated update.
Burghley House was magic great weather magic crowds and helpers from everywhere doing thier bit to keep everyone happy.
The show had a Retriever test run by Lincs gundog club which proved to be a great sucess with the competitors and spectators alike so much so Lincs want to come back next year and make it a bigger event with more teams and more Juniors.

Went off to Chatsworth and helped with Retiever and Spaniel tests not the result most people where expecting but then we were not the judges so what do we know I think I know someone who was just a little miffed at the final placeings in the Spaniel field but then thats working tests and trialing for you.

I am off to Bakewell next weekend running events for agility dogs and flyball nutcases if you want to run against fast and mad dogs with equally fast and mad handlers then pop along and see how fast your dog really is Bakewell show groung middle of Bakewell follow signs for Dogs Unleached.

Osmaston Park Ashbourne is the next Living Heritage Show and that looks to be a great venue sorry to say no working test as promised the club that where trying to put it on do not have the help and time so maybe next year have to give people more notice!!!

Around 60 invites going out tomorrow for the Sandringham finals all the prizes are sorted sponsorship is absolutely fabulous trophies ordered venue second to none and Mr Bill Meldrum as offered the services of himself and his team to help and run the juniors in the Lintan final again and the offer to do something on Saturday and Sunday so get those invites back so that everything can be sorted before the day.

Next year will see a different format to the events with I hope automatic timing gates a different layout and I wish more people being given the opertunity to run the events and be in the front line timing and getting more involved. But that remains to be seen as I really dont know who wants to do what at this moment.

Sledmere House as been cancelled and as such Raby Castle is getting more attention hopefully the Scott Mann of the north is sorting me some helpers for the weekend as most of the regular helpers will need to renew thier passports to go that far north.

Any of you readers that dont already help out at shows and feel that they would like to get into the show and help and get to see the show then drop me a line and will arrange passes for you.

Burghley

by bobp - 20.05.2010 - 20:33 - Links: n/a

The Bank Holiday weekend see's Burghley House Country Show over in Stamford.
We have a Retriever working test for spectators to sit and watch I am told that we have 17 junior competitors so that should be good not sure how many adult teams are running.
From all accounts there seems to be alot of you lot in attendance and from what I hear some going to Highclere to try and win a car I know some peole have been trying to get some match practice before the attempt so good luck, for those of you who want a simpler life then come to Burghley no pressure no rules to trip you up and the chance to get your invite to Sandringham to run in our final.
Letters going out this week to those of you that have already qualified for an invite that includes open ,novice and junior and the juniors are invited to run in a small working test with Bill Meldrum who for many years was the trainer of gundogs for the Queen and there is to my mind no finer venue than Sandringham to hold a final in a gundog event.

Tunbridge and Staffordshire

by bobp - 17.05.2010 - 19:54 - Links: n/a

FA cup weekend but people who scurry dont care they went to two events in Staffs and Tunbridge and enjoyed the sunshine and run in a few competitions.
My thanks to Monty Julian and thier slaves for looking after Staffs show so well and from reports doing a good job for scurrybandits name.
Whilst I and others went to play down south my thanks to Peter Smith and his friends to all the newcomers to scurrying from that neck of the woods. Special thankyou to Ron and his wife all the way from Holland to compete in our little event (on holiday actually )with thier Small Musterlander never competed in any such event and then got a third place in the novice multi Challenge. On Sunday we where invaded by Cockers and none better than Buzzby run by Gemma ,Lucy, and Toby Carter they are now addicts to the world of scurries so see you soon you three.
Nice to see Steve again with his new dogs Groovy and Kango trying to find a dog to win the car best of luck Steve .
Gill won in Open took a while but the hard work is paying off spent the day with friends relaxing maybe thats the secret Gill learn to relax.
I personnally had a great weekend with friends and like minded people and I know the Clowne crew enjoyed thier weekend so lets hope we can have some more at Burghley see you all soon.
