Hi,
This is a cross post from a flyball forum, there is a whole discussion going on about it if anyone is interested.
"hello all,
Just to let you know there is a large increase of cases in the last 4mths with dogs getting lung worm across the UK. I think with the way the weather is there are more and more snails and slug around I know i have seen an increased amount in my garden.
Lung Worm is life threatening and dogs can become infected if they eat slugs, snails and sometimes even frogs.
Symptoms are -
Breathing problems, coughing and tiring more easily
Poor blood clotting leading to excessive bleeding from minor wounds, nose and bleeding into the eye, anaemia
Behavioural changes, seizures, spinal pain, weight loss, loss of appetite, vomiting and diarrhoea."

The disturbing thing i didn't know was that they can get it from the trail, so if you leave your bowls outside and a slug crawls over it overnight, then you feed in the morning......
